  • Guarantor details (for first-time adult applicants)
1

Register on the NIS portal and start application

Complete the application form online

Enter all personal information: full name (matching your NIN exactly), date of birth, home address, next of kin, and guarantor details. Upload required documents: NIN slip, birth certificate, and existing passport (for renewal).

Pay the application fee online

Pay ₦15,000 (32-page, 10-year validity) or ₦20,000 (64-page, 10-year validity) via Remita on the NIS portal. Save your payment receipt number — required for appointment booking.

4

Book an appointment at a passport office

After payment, book an appointment at the nearest NIS State Command Passport Office. Appointment availability varies. Book as early as possible. Arrive 15 minutes before your appointment with all original documents.

Biometric capture and collection

At the passport office: biometrics (fingerprints and photo) are captured. Your passport is produced at the Central Passport Production Centre and delivered to the passport office or your address (via speed post for additional fee). Collect within 6–8 weeks.
